Last night the Spartans retained their title as ENL Cup Champions with a 7-4 win (12-9 aggregate win) over the Peterborough Islanders.

Last night the Spartans retained their title as ENL Cup Champions with a 7-4 win (12-9 aggregate win) over the Peterborough Islanders.
The Spartans will face the Peterborough Islanders this Sunday in the second leg of the ENL Cup Final (5.00pm Face-off).
Last weekend the Spartans played the first leg in Petebrough. Sheffield were without a number of players due to the Conference weekend in Hull, Chris Turner was suspended and Dan Hughes was also unavailable. Oli Barron stepped in to complete three full lines and Arron Strawson was back after missing nearly a full season.
The Spartans battled to take a 5-5 draw, with two goals from Matt Haywood, two goals from Arron Strawson and a goal from Will Barron. Netminder Dmitri Zimozdra was injured in the warm up, with no back up available he decided to continue and play the full game. Dmitri later went to hospital and has now had an operation on his severed tendon and will miss the home leg. Andrew Turner will also miss the final game, he suffered a broken foot after blocking a shot in the third period.
The Spartans will look to make the most of the home ice advantage and hope to retain their ENL Cup title from last season.
The Sheffield Spartans progressed to the ENIHL CUP final last night after a 7-2 home win over the Invicta Dynamos (9-4 overall).
The Spartans will face the Peterborough Islanders in the final for the second year running and home to defend their title.
The fixtures for the two-leg final are provisionally:
Saturday 3rd of May at Peterborough (5.30pm).
Sunday 11th of May at iceSheffield (5.00pm).
Face off times will be updated as soon as the fixtures are confirmed.
