Sheffield Scimitars ENL

Last night saw the Sheffield Spartans win their last ENIHL north cup game and top the cup table with a 7 - 3 win over Flintshire. The Spartans now travel to Peterborough today to play in a one-leg national cup final.

After a slow start the Spartans went behind 2-0 in the first few minutes. A 5-0 second period saw the Spartans come back to take a comfortable lead and a 2-1 third period sealed the victory. The game had lots of penalties, which the Spartans took advantage of with a number of powerplay goals.

The Sheffield Spartans are the 2006/2007 ENIHL playoff champions after beating Haringey 4-3 in a close final at Coventry. After going ahead 1-0 in the first the Spartans came from behind twice before taking the lead once more with minutes to go in the 3rd period.

After winning the last two playoff games Sheffield Scimitars ENL are the ENL North Playoff Champions and will play against Haringey Greyhounds in the National playoff final at Coventry on the 15th of April.

Sheffield beat playoff favourites Whitley Warriors in a tense game on Saturday 2-0, then needed only one point from the game on Sunday against League winners Newcastle. The Final score was Sheffield 10 - Newcastle 1.
