The Spartans have qualified for the playoffs. As the current ENIHL North stands, Sheffield are on 28 points and both Billingham and Blackburn can reach 28 points by winning their last game, but the Spartans would place above both teams based on the results between them. The Spartans have two league games remaining this weekend (Bradford at home and Nottingham away). Two wins would place Sheffield third in the league and equal last years position.

Spartans step closer to playoffs

The Sheffield Spartans took another step towards cementing their place in the ENIHL North Playoffs this weekend with wins over Blackburn and Grimsby.

The Spartans traveled to Blackburn on Saturday to play against the Hawks. This would be a crucial game as the winner would be almost guaranteed a playoff place. The Spartans played a well disciplined, fast game. Taking advantage of powerplay opportunities and killing penalties well.

Spartans secure cup final place.

The Sheffield Spartans secured their place in the ENIHL cup final last weekend with a double points win over Newcastle, Final score: Sheffield 3 – Newcastle 1. With only one cup game remaining (at home against Flintshire on the 9th Feb), no other teams in the north cup group can catch the Spartans, who have won every cup game this season. The Spartans will go on to play the winner of the southern cup group in a two-leg final.

The Spartans face Manchester on Saturday at IceSheffield, Face off: 19.30. This is a must win game for the Spartans to keep their playoff hopes alive.
