A solid start…. and a happy coach

A very solid start to our league this week, with wins over Blackburn and Nottingham.

A delighted Greg Newton, had the following comments to make

‘It is certainly a bonus to play your first double header weekend at home, and we took the opportunity with both hands and picked up maximum points against 2 good teams. Saturday was frustrating at times, as we wasted chances on Powerplays, but the guys dug deep and withstood a late charge from the Hawks to keep the points’

‘Sunday was always going to be close, and as i said to the players before the game, and between each period, the game will be won by the team who forechecks, pressures and supports defence better’. ‘2 evenly matched teams… it comes down to attitude and mindset’. ‘It is often difficult going into a third period with a 2 goal lead, as the next goal is vital to the outcome of the game, fortunately we got it, with some outstanding play from our N/M Andy Bagshaw we managed to keep a shut out.’

‘We have a tough trip to Newcastle’s Northern Stars this Sunday, but the guys will be heading north full of confidence.’
