The Spartans rolled into Newcastle, with a slightly depleted side, missing Jon Woolhouse and Joe Millard made the task a little bit tougher, but with the return of Will Barron after holiday, and brother Ollie now well on his way to recovering from his ankle injury the Spartans were looking to extend their unbeaten streak.

The game turned out as expected, skillfull, tight, two teams who play a similar style battled it out. It was scrappy at times, and not pretty but both teams should be praised for their styles and attitudes.

The Spartans battled out a 3-2 victory which slots them nicely into 2nd place in the league.

Coach Greg Newton – “I was pleased with the win, preparation wasnt the best, but the guys did what they always do and pulled together, I was most pleased with the way that we won… we arent usually a ‘grind out a win’ team, but today we showed we can, and its good for me to know that they will do it when they need to”

The Spartans welcome Whitley Bay to IceSheffield next Saturday, for a top of the table clash.
